River Region Psychiatry Associates (RRPA) is a leading private behavioral health practice based in Alabama, with a growing footprint across the Southeast. Founded in 2017 by Dr. Shankar Yalamanchili ("Dr. Chili"), RRPA offers a full spectrum of psychiatric services including outpatient care, inpatient coverage, consultation—liaison work, telepsychiatry, ECT, TMS, and more. Our team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, and licensed therapists who provide compassionate, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations. We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible General Psychiatrist to join our team, providing both inpatient and outpatient care. This role involves working across a diverse patient population with opportunities to collaborate with and supervise a team of skilled mid-level providers. The position includes a monthly weekend call rotation and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individualized treatment planning for a broad range of patients
  • Supervise mid-level providers, offering guidance and clinical support
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in a monthly weekend call rotation, supporting continuity of care
  • Maintain documentation and care standards in accordance with facility policies
  • *All final candidates will be background and drug screened.

Requirements:

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Psychiatry
  • Active Alabama medical license or eligibility for licensure
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision and support to mid-level providers

Requirements

Education — Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine – Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and/or Neurology

Experience — Minimum of 3 years’ direct patient care experience.

License — Current valid license in Alabama or ability to attain, with current and unrestricted DEA registration
