WVUHS Medical Group and Wheeling Hospital, a member of the West Virginia University Health System, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible pathologist to join our collegial and experienced pathology team.
Details:
- The department processes approximately 15,000 surgical pathology specimens, 14,000 non-gynecologic cytology specimens, and over 10,000 gynecologic cytology specimens annually.
- The new pathologist will join a team of four total pathologists responsible for general surgical pathology and limited clinical pathology duties.
- Our three current pathologists are highly experienced, fostering a strong collaborative environment.
- We handle a moderate number of frozen sections, predominantly skin cancers, with occasional lung specimens.
- Hematopathology cases are referred to the WVU Hematopathology Department in Morgantown.
- Call is light and shared equally (1 in 4), including holidays.
- A dedicated pathology assistant handles the majority of grossing duties, with coverage gaps only during vacations.
- Strong technical and clinical support teams are in place in both the histopathology and clinical laboratories.
- No autopsy responsibilities.
- This is a salaried position with RVU incentive bonuses and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain state medical license. Applicants must have completed pathology fellowship. Applicants must be board certified or eligible AP/CP. All qualifications must be met at the time of appointment.
