Job Description

West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurology in the WVU School of Medicine are recruiting a Neurologist for United Hospital Center with an academic appointment of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. The successful candidate will practice in Bridgeport, WV.

As a full member of the WVU Health System, United Hospital Center is part of a broad, integrated network of physicians, hospitals, clinics and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Ohio. UHC is a 692,000 square foot structure rising eight stories. It is designed around the environment, with the patient, family, staff, and community in mind, which includes patient privacy, a high level of technology integration, and improved access to care. The acute care facility has 292 private inpatient rooms with a medical staff that consists of more than 381 physicians and providers.

The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia's largest health system and the state's largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022. Today, the WVU Health System has more than 2,400 licensed beds, 3,900 providers, and nearly 30,000 employees. Anchored by a 700-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes 25 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region that includes West Virginia, Western Maryland, Eastern Ohio, and Southwestern Pennsylvania. 

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of neurology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure. Successful candidate must have completed a Neurology residency program and must be board certified/eligible in Neurology.
