Sarah Wickersham
Sarah Wickersham is the Executive Director of Douglas C.A.R.E.S. (Child Abuse Response and Evaluation Services), where she has dedicated her life to helping children and adults recover from abuse. Through her leadership, Douglas C.A.R.E.S. works to eradicate child abuse and neglect in Douglas County, Oregon, through effective, compassionate response and prevention.
A life of advocacy
- Deep experience: Wickersham has spent nearly 20 years in service to children and families struggling with poverty, mental and behavioral health challenges, substance use disorders, and trauma.
- Trauma-informed care: Before joining Douglas C.A.R.E.S. in 2020, she was the Treatment Services Manager for the Douglas County Juvenile Department, where she designed and implemented trauma-informed programs for high-needs youth.
- Multidisciplinary approach: Wickersham has fostered a collaborative environment at Douglas C.A.R.E.S., coordinating with law enforcement, child welfare agencies, and other partners to provide comprehensive support to families.
