Pediatrics - Cardiology Job at WVU Medicine in Morgantown, WV

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Pediatrics Department seeks a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist.  The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice pediatric critical care in our cardiac PICU. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and neonatal ICU fellows. 

Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license.  Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency, accredited critical care and/or cardiology fellowship programs.  One year of additional training is required in pediatric cardiac intensive care if not dually trained in both fellowships. The successful candidate must be board certified / eligible in pediatric critical care and/or cardiology.   Will consider 5 years of cardiac intensive care work experience in lieu of formal cardiac intensive care training.  Preference will be given to candidate who are dually trained in Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care and are board certified/eligible in both subspecialties.    All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

With an anticipated opening in early 2022, our new 150 bed Children s Hospital and Women s Pavilion will have a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital will include 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 31 PICU beds, Heart Institute, and a dedicated Cancer Institute. WVU Medicine Children s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Women s Pavilion will house a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic.  J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
