Overview:

St. Mary’s Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing Outpatient Behavioral Health team in Amsterdam, NY. This full-time, hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality psychiatric care including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning to adult patients in an outpatient setting.

As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and support staff, you will help deliver patient-centered mental health services that promote stability, resilience, and long-term wellness. Qualifications:

Required Credentials – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed (or eligible for licensure) in New York State. BLS Provider certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire)

Preferred Experience – Outpatient psychiatric experience preferred but not required

Skills - Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently. Experience with medication management, crisis intervention, and patient-centered care. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team

This role requires strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnostic formulation, medication management, and crisis evaluation. The PMHNP must be able to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team. Compassion, resilience, and cultural competence are essential for success in this position.

Adherence to Standard Precautions and utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are mandatory to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.
