Virginia-Carilion Clinic, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Sports Medicine/General, Lexington, VA
Carilion Clinic, is searching for an Orthopaedic Surgeon with fellowship training in Sports Medicine to join a well-established practice with three other experienced orthopaedic surgeons and one advanced practice provider at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, a state-of-the-art 25-bed acute-care critical access facility in Lexington, VA.

The primary and secondary service area is supported by numerous Carilion and other primary care practices throughout the region along with support of additional subspecialists located close by at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital/Carilion Children’s Hospital, a 763-Level 1 trauma center.
The Carilion Clinic Orthopaedic Surgery Department includes 50+ Physicians and 50+ Advanced Practice Providers in seven subspecialty sections providing patient centered care throughout the region. Faculty participate in Education of the Medical Students from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) as well as off service residents and PA students. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has fellowship programs in Scoliosis and Spine Surgery (1), Adult Reconstruction (2), Foot and Ankle Surgery/Foot and Ankle Research (1), Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery (1), Musculoskeletal Research (3) a Podiatry Residency Program (9) and a new Orthopaedic Residency program started July 2024 with 4 residents per year.
This position offers the opportunity to benefit from an academic practice setting practicing with many of the advantages of a community practice in a state-of-the-art facility, supported by a large academic institution. Orthopaedic Surgeons have academic appointments through the VTCSOM at the Assistant Professor level with a promotion pathway to Associate and Full Professor. Research efforts are supported through the department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Musculoskeletal Education and Research Center (MERC). New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Minimum requirements include: •Board eligible/certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery •Fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine (preferred) with interest in General Orthopaedic Surgery, High School/College team coverage and community level trauma care. •Research interest encouraged and supported.
