AdventHealth Medical Group in Central Florida is seeking a Chief Medical Officer to assume clinical leadership of an 1,800+ provider specialty medical group and more than 60 subspecialties.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for shaping the clinical vision and driving strategic initiatives that ensure excellence in quality, safety and patient outcomes across all employed physicians and advanced practice providers in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The CMO is accountable for advancing quality, safety and clinical performance and for fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. This role guides initiatives that optimize provider engagement and strengthen operational effectiveness across the Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shapes the clinical vision and strategic priorities of the medical group in collaboration with system and hospital leadership
- Champions evidence-based practices and innovation to enhance quality, safety and care consistency.
- Provides physician perspective and counsel in strategic, operational and growth initiatives
- Strengthens alignment across inpatient, outpatient and specialty services to improve coordination of care.
- Oversees risk compliance and ethical standards ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
- Promotes a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous learning among medical staff
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Demonstrated success at the Executive Leadership level leading physicians and APPs in a complex healthcare system
- Deep understanding of clinical operations, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Strategic thinking and business acumen with a record of measurable results
- Sound judgment, high integrity and commitment to organizational mission and values
- Systems oriented mindset with the ability to align enterprise goals and actionable strategies
Education & Experience Required:
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
- Specialty Board Certification in a Surgical, Procedural or Medical Specialty
- Demonstrated success in a CMO or Executive Physician Leader role within a large specialty group or integrated healthcare delivery system
- Florida Medical License or the ability to obtain upon receiving an offer of employment
Preferences:
- Advanced training in healthcare administration, business or leadership (e.g. MBA, MHA, MPH)
- Minimum of 3 years as a CMO or 5 years as an Executive Physician Leader in a large specialty group or integrated healthcare delivery system.
- Demonstrated success driving physician engagement and culture change in a matrixed organization
- Expertise in digital health transformation, clinical informatics, or EMR optimization
- Exposure to value-based care models, ACOs or clinically integrated networks
