🩺 The Role: Director of Hospitalist Medicine
We are seeking a Hospitalist Medical Director who exemplifies collaborative leadership. This role offers the opportunity to lead an established hospitalist service line at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
Our directors view leadership as service. This is a position for someone who leads through mentorship, communication, and examples. Success in this role comes from building trust, empowering teams, and ensuring every decision reflects the values of our organization and the needs of our hospital partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with policies, mission, and values
- Provide direct inpatient care, including evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for adult patients, ensuring continuity and quality throughout their hospital stay.
- Analyze department performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement necessary changes
- Maintain comprehensive clinical information and detailed care plans
- Lead and manage the hospitalist team, ensuring proper staffing, training, and development
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration with the ED and other clinical areas
- Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration among hospitalists, specialists, nursing staff, and other stakeholders
- Monitor operational metrics (LOS, re-admissions, throughput) and help develop actionable improvement plans.
- Manage team performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to drive improvement
🧠 What We’re Looking For:
- Board Certified in Internal medicine, family medicine or Med/Ped
- ACLS/BLS Certified
- Committed to living in or near Cheyenne, WY and growing with the team
- Professional, reliable, and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- Minimum 3 years of hospitalist experience and at least 1–2 years in a leadership capacity (lead, associate, or director role)
- Strong communication skills — able to translate goals into collaborative action
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, operation metrics and staffing models
- Understanding of operational and financial drivers of hospital medicine programs
- Promotes a collaborative, team-focused mindset and exceptional communication skills
💵 Compensation/Benefits and Schedule
We’re proud to offer clear, fair, and transparent compensation:
- Pay and Schedule Structure:
- Director will only be required to work 7 clinical shifts (84 hours) per month but is welcome to work more clinically If they so choose.
- Clinical Shifts are paid at the standard full-time rate of $160/hr.
- It is anticipated that the director will average 36 hours per month of administrative work/duties.
- Additional Pay:
- Director Is given a flat $7000/month to compensate for admin duties.
- Up to $30,000/ year in quality bonus’ – paid out quarterly
- Nights:
- Nocturnist shifts are paid at +$25/hour
Total Compensation: Range is Variable based upon total shifts worked and type of shift. It is expected that at a bare minimum the medical director will be more than $300,000/year
Scheduling
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (5 physicians + 1 APP)
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (1 physician + 1 APP)

Sign-On Bonus
- $50,000 – Payable at 50% after 1st shift, and 50% after 6 months of employment.
The Hospital: Cheyenne Regional Medical Center
Founded in 1867 as a frontier “tent” hospital, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has deep roots in the community. Today, it is a 222-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center, continuing its pioneering spirit of compassionate, world-class care.
Internal Medicine Highlights:
- Patient Volume: 60 to 100 per day total divided among providers
- EMR System: EPIC
- Standard ancillary services
- Care management/social work
- Semi-Open ICU (24-hour intensivists available, option to do procedures/vent management – NOT required/expected)
