Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesCHI St. Vincent Infirmary is looking for a dedicated and skilled Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioner to join our team, primarily supporting our Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Opportunity:
As a Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in supporting and optimizing patient care within our cardiothoracic program, with a primary focus on the CV Stepdown Unit. This position is vital in ensuring efficient pre-operative evaluations, comprehensive post-operative management, and thorough ongoing patient follow-up. By leveraging your expertise, you will significantly enhance patient access to care, improve communication, and contribute to faster, more effective treatment plans.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Comprehensive Patient Assessment: Performing thorough history and physical examinations for cardiothoracic patients, spanning the pre-operative, post-operative, and follow-up phases of care.
- Diagnostic & Treatment Planning: Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Post-Operative Management: Proactively managing and addressing potential post-operative complications, ensuring patient safety and optimal recovery.
- Patient Education & Support: Providing comprehensive patient and family education and counseling regarding their condition, treatment plans, and recovery process, serving as a key point of contact to improve communication and satisfaction.
- Hospital Rounds: Conducting daily rounds on patients in the hospital, monitoring progress, adjusting care plans as needed, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Clinic Responsibilities: Seeing patients in the clinic for pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up visits, ensuring continuity of care.
- Consultation & Triage: Seeing and evaluating consults within the hospital to assist in triaging patients and expediting their care pathway.
- Collaborative Care: Working closely with other members of the healthcare team to provide seamless and coordinated patient care.
Schedule:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Clinic days typically on Tuesdays from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Job Requirements- Previous cardiothoracic and/or vascular care experience is desirable but not required.
- Current Nurse Practitioner Licensure in Arkansas
- Collaborative Agreement with supervising physician.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate and ability to maintain said certificate.
- ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire
