Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized.
Pay: 250-315 annual  salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

The successful candidate will serve as the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Medical Service (MS) under the direct supervision of the Chief of Staff. The incumbent will be a key member of the clinical leadership team. The position provides administrative, clinical and programmatic leadership for Medical Service which includes oversight of Primary Aligned Cart Team (PACT) program at all sites, Community Living Center (CLC) providers, HBPC providers, Compensation and Pension, and Urgent care. The position is a management position with responsibilities for the overall performance of the entire department including resource management of budget and positions. The incumbent provides a small amount of direct patient care The ACOS for Medical Service plans and develops initiatives and programs in collaboration with other services to ensure coordination and streamlining of services.

The ACOS for MS will work closely with other leaders within the facility to ensure optimization of resources in the care delivery model. Additionally, he/she participates in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings or committees as necessary or assigned.

The ACOS for MS is expected to perform direct clinical care a minimum number of hours per week, as determined by the Chief of Staff in order to maintain clinical expertise in the field.

The ACOS for MS promotes an effective mission, coordination and support of clinical care by evaluating current and potential patient needs, clinical workload and resources, and special programs/mandates. In addition, he/she will work to enhance training programs and assist to develop opportunities for research.

Monitors and evaluates the quality of medical services as an integral part of the overall quality assessments and improvement program and assuring compliance with the Joint Commission.

The ACOS for MS promotes and evaluates standards of clinical competence and conduct for staff which are maintained through compliance with the credentialing and privileging processes, monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice, peer review, and other appropriate quality assurance activities.

The ACOS for MS will lead the service in addressing applicable clinical metrics and maintaining awareness of performance expectations.

The ACOS for MS will participate in top level decisions and policy design with significant impact. A primary objective of the ACOS for MS is to mentor and lead highly competent, satisfied staff dedicated to providing the highest quality care centered around Veteran needs and optimizing health and well-being. The ACOS for MS will encourage staff to continuously improve both the quality of care and overall patient experience.

Travel: occasional travel - you may be expected to travel for this position for site visits at the CBOC's (Wyoming, Benton Harbor, Lansing and Muskegon), and for conferences.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday - 8:00-4:30. Nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Due to the nature of this position, hours may be rotated or extended based on the needs of the Medical Center and our Veterans. This is a non-bargaining unit position.
