ECU Health Physicians and The East Carolina Heart Institute at ECU Health Medical Center are seeking a Board-Certified/Board Eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide acute patient care in their Cardiac Surgery ICU. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Inpatient only clinical care in a high volume 16-bed cardiac ICU
Established team of 8 experienced Advanced Practice Providers and 6 Surgeons
Ability to work with a nationally recognized cardiothoracic surgery program that performs more than 1,000 pump cases annually
Clinical responsibilities will include providing care for cardiac surgery patients the first 24 hours post op and will include performing histories and physical examinations, patient assessments, daily patient rounds with physicians, and facilitation of pre-operative and post-operative patient care
Schedule will include (7) 12-hour shifts every 2 weeks with rotating nights and weekends
Procedures will include chest tube removal, arterial lines, central lines, swan-ganz catheter, supervision of intubations, thoracentesis, transvenous pacers, and bronchoscopies
High level of autonomy
ACLS certification by the American Heart Association is required

East Carolina Heart Institute
The East Carolina Heart Institute at ECU Health Medical Center is eastern North Carolina’s preferred facility for cardiovascular services. The six-story, 375,000-square-foot tower houses clinical space, diagnostic services, and cardiovascular operating rooms, including a hybrid operating room. It features 120 beds for patients undergoing procedures for cardiac medicine, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery.
