Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-Time Thyroid Physician (MD or DO) to join our growing team at Charleston Thyroid Center. This is an exceptional opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible family medicine physician, internal medicine provider, or endocrinologist to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients with thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Graves’ disease, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer. If you have passion and enthusiasm to deliver outstanding patient care, we will provide 1:1 apprenticeship and training in all aspects of thyroid care, medication dosing, diagnosis, thyroid ultrasound, thyroid biopsy, and minimally invasive thyroid procedures. The ideal candidate will share our commitment to integrative care, combining both conventional and complementary approaches to deliver personalized treatment plans that empower patients to reclaim their health and vitality. In addition to our brick-and-mortar practice, you will have the opportunity to practice nationally via our telemedicine practice, MyThyroidDoctor.
As a Thyroid Physician at Charleston Thyroid Center, you will work alongside a dynamic team of providers, including Dr. Henderson, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, all united by a shared vision of compassionate, high-quality care. You will have the opportunity to practice at the forefront of thyroid medicine, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools such as thyroid ultrasound, biopsy, and ethanol ablation, while fostering deep connections with patients in a supportive and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Be willing to complete a 6-month apprenticeship and fellowship training program designed to teach you all things thyroid (length of training is dependent on your incoming knowledge and experience).
- Provide comprehensive thyroid-specific care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, autoimmune thyroid diseases, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer.
- Perform and interpret thyroid ultrasounds and ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsies.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating conventional therapies (e.g., thyroid hormone replacement), integrative approaches, and lifestyle management.
- Offer expert opinions for patients seeking expert guidance on thyroid disease management.
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care and exceptional outcomes.
- Educate patients on their conditions, treatment options, and strategies for living thyroid healthy, fostering empowerment and trust.
- Stay current with advancements in thyroidology, contributing to the practice’s reputation for excellence and innovation.
- Participate in community outreach and philanthropy initiatives, aligning with our mission to make a positive impact locally and globally.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with practice standards.
Qualifications
Required:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Endocrinology.
- Valid medical license in South Carolina (or eligibility to obtain).
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and open to bridging conventional with integrative medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm, empathetic, and professional demeanor.
Preferred: (** Though All Skills Can Be Taught During The Fellowship/Apprenticeship)
- Proficiency in thyroid ultrasound, biopsy, and minimally invasive techniques
- Advanced training or experience in thyroid-specific procedures, such as ethanol ablation
- Familiarity with autoimmune thyroid diseases and lifestyle management approaches.
- Experience in a high-volume, specialty-focused practice.
- Interest in contributing to research, publications, or community education on thyroid health.
- Interest in expanding both conventional and functional medicine knowledge as a lifelong learner.
