General Surgeon – Fairfield Memorial Hospital
Location: Fairfield, Illinois
Status: Full-Time | 40 hrs/week + 15 On-Call Days per Month

Nature of Work:

• Deliver high-quality surgical care in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, including Medical/Surgical/ICU units.
• Perform a variety of general surgical procedures, including endoscopy (preferred).
• Evaluate diagnostic tests and develop treatment plans tailored to each patient.
• Maintain thorough documentation and charting using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, and recovery.
• Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team using strong clinical judgment and communication skills.

Education & Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree (Required)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (Required)
• Completion of 5-year residency in General Surgery (Required)
• Current, unrestricted state medical license (Required)
• Completion of U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (Required)
• Fellowship training in a surgical subspecialty is a plus

Skills & Experience:

• Prior experience in general surgery and endoscopy preferred
• Exceptional hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Clear, effective communication with patients, families, and care teams
