Job Summary

St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Child/Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatrist

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is seeking a compassionate, board-certified or board-eligible Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our growing division of behavioral health. The child and adolescent psychiatrist will provide direct patient care, ensure the highest quality of clinical services, collaborate with other clinical teams in our children’s hospital and participate in education and teaching activities within our large urban pediatric hospital. Preferred candidates will have experience in community-based or outpatient settings and a collaborative approach to working with medical students, residents, psychologists, social workers, therapists, staff, community-based organizations, families, and schools. We are seeking a clinician who is culturally responsive, emotionally attuned, and committed to providing equitable, patient-centered care.As our program expands, we value candidates who are adaptable and eager to help develop workflows and processes that will support the needs of the department and the children and families we serve including collaborating on coverages of our inpatient service in collaboration with other child and adolescent psychiatrists.

Highlights:

  • Provide direct outpatient clinical services to children, adolescents, and their families
  • Provide support for inpatient coverage with collaboration and working with the Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Position housed within the Department of Pediatrics at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, with a faculty appointment through Drexel University College of Medicine (DUCOM).
  • Join a collaborative team of physicians, therapists, community partners, psychologists, behavior analysts, medical assistant, and administrative support team.
  • Collaborate with pediatric primary care and specialty care teams to provide consultations and supporting integrated care delivery with the potential future opportunity to embed within a primary/specialty care team.
  • Play a key role in shaping an onsite outpatient psychiatric clinic, with the potential for growth, offering a unique leadership opportunity for candidates with interest in program development and expanding community-based behavioral health services.

  • Occasional opportunity to provide inpatient coverage for vacation relief
  • Opportunity to support children and adolescent psychiatry fellow, psychiatric residents, pediatric residents, medical residents (neurology) psychology resident, and other trainees across the hospital through supervision, didactic and clinical education.
  • Opportunities for education, research, quality improvement and working with our medical team and physicians for ongoing professional development in the Department of Pediatrics and Drexel University College of Medicine.
  • Report to the Chair of Pediatrics and Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • MD, DO or Foreign equivalent
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Valid Pennsylvania medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DEA certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
