1.0 FTE split between clinical and directorship duties | Sky Lakes Medical Center | $625,000 per year with + $75,000 directorship pay + up to $100,000 sign-on bonus

Job Summary:

Sky Lakes Medical Center is seeking an experienced Medical Oncologist or Hematologist/Oncologist to join its team as an Oncology Medical Director in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

This position is a hybrid production and medical directorship role. Ideal candidates would have previous leadership experience, or at least 5 years of practice experience with some leadership involvement.

This is an opportunity to lead an exceptional care-team and provide strategic oversight of an expanding oncology service line for the region.

  • Devoted to making best efforts while being reasonably available and personally present on a regular basis for the performance and discharge of duties and responsibilities as the Medical Director.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule
  • 8 hours of admin time per week
  • 4-day work week or patient contact hours
  • Call (phone only) is 8 days a month

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and evaluate the quality, availability, safety and appropriateness of medical oncology services rendered at the Sky Lakes Cancer Treatment Center (CTC)
  • Participate in the development and implementation of effective quality assurance and utilization review programs and performance improvement activities
  • Collaborate with the Department Director of the Cancer Treatment Center ("CTC Director") and Sky Lakes Administration to review patient satisfaction, staffing levels, and operations
  • Participate in the hiring process for CTC physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, and support staff, as requested by Sky Lakes
  • Assist as requested in the orientation, education and in-service training of all medical and non-medical personnel engaged for the operation and conduct of medical oncology services
  • Collaborate with the Sky Lakes Quality Management Department to assure the CTC is managing medical oncology cases in an efficient and appropriate manner
  • Participate in the peer review process as requested by the Chair of the Department of Medicine and/or the Professional Practice Evaluation Committee (PPEC)
  • Facilitate the development of a team approach of medical care between CTC physicians, primary care providers and specialists, nursing, and other clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Represent medical oncology in an advisory capacity to Sky Lakes Administration, Medical Staff, and Governing Board
  • Chair the Sky Lakes Oncology Committee and attend other medical staff and administrative committee meetings as requested

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation is $625,000 per year
  • Guaranteed salary and additional $75,000 available for directorship pay
  • Up to $100,000 sign-on bonus

  • $4,000 and 5 days of annual CME
  • $1,000 annually for licenses and certifications
  • Sky Lakes is a non-profit that qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be a board-certified and fellowship trained Medical Oncologist or Hematologist/Oncologist (MD/DO)
  • Recognized clinical leader in your area of Oncology specialty with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience post-fellowship
  • Demonstrate the ability to recruit outstanding physicians, mentor colleagues, and foster research
  • Candidates that have been in utilization committees or led a tumor board are highly desired
