Appalachian Vascular and Interventional Radiology (AVIR), an independent, physician-owned practice based in Johnson City, TN, is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our expanding Interventional and Neurointerventional Radiology team. This position is primarily outpatient clinic–based, serving as the bridge between our IR/NIR physicians, inpatient team, and patients across the region. The ideal candidate thrives on learning, patient education, and multidisciplinary collaboration in a fast-evolving specialty.
Position Highlights
- Serve as the primary provider for the Interventional and Neurointerventional Radiology clinic.
- Evaluate and prepare patients for a broad range of minimally invasive and neurointerventional procedures, including stroke interventions, intracranial aneurysm management, tumor embolization, dialysis access, venous disease treatment, and pain management procedures.
- Provide comprehensive pre- and post-procedure counseling, coordinating follow-up care and ensuring seamless transitions between outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Collaborate closely with our inpatient midlevels and physicians to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the IR and NIR service lines.
- Participate in advancing patient care pathways and innovative programs as we expand services across multiple hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed patient evaluations, including history and physicals.
- Manage clinic consults and follow-up visits for both IR and NIR procedures.
- Provide education and guidance to patients and families regarding treatment options and post-procedural expectations.
- Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams (neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, vascular surgery, etc.).
- Document encounters accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR, ensuring appropriate billing and coding compliance.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and protocol development within the IR/NIR clinic.
Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner: Certified by AANPCB or ANCC.
- Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited program with NCCPA certification.
- Current, unrestricted Tennessee license (Virginia license preferred or willingness to obtain). • BLS and ACLS certification required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with Epic EMR and outpatient documentation workflows preferred.
- Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn a broad range of innovative, image-guided procedures in both interventional and neurointerventional settings.
