Position Summary
The Primary Care Physician will facilitate the mission of Metro Community Health Center by ensuring the delivery of quality patient care and coordination of direct patient care within the health center. This individual will administer to patients’ needs while adhering to the scope of practice and standards of care. The physician will provide the highest level of care to ensure quality, cost-effective programs and services throughout the lifecycle, including other duties, tasks, or projects as needed.


Essential Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments; evaluate, diagnose, and treat new and existing patients
  • Support integration and collaboration between Primary Care Providers and Mental Health Services
  • Initiate and interpret labs and imaging (including CTs & MRIs)
  • Perform medical procedures
  • Prescribe medications and refer patients for specialized consultation
  • Document patient progress in the EHR, including status and treatments provided
  • Conduct follow-up patient care
  • Provide health education to patients and families
  • Supervise and/or coordinate patient care and support staff activities within the clinic
  • Teach and train on illness prevention and participate in community health education
  • Perform emergency life-saving procedures in critical cases (e.g., cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage)
  • Serve as a frontline medical provider in emergency disaster services
  • Demonstrate strong relationship-building and customer service skills
  • Apply interpersonal and influence skills when managing difficult clients or patients
  • Maintain high competency in clinical practice and charting requirements
  • Demonstrate problem-solving abilities to support patients and staff
  • Show strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
  • Use computers effectively for data entry and information retrieval
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Implement and evaluate operational and administrative processes

Position Requirements

Education/Experience

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution
  • Licensed to practice Family Medicine in the State of Pennsylvania

Skills/Abilities

  • Expertise in clinical best practices, protocols, and trends
  • Knowledge and success in managing overall clinical operations
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes and compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and emergency situations effectively
  • Proficiency with office management, computers, and EMRs

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, use hands for manipulation, reach, talk, and hear
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Work environment is typically quiet
