Statement of Work (SOW)

 

Background: As directed by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) manages and executes the Defense Health Program Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation appropriation. Within the DHA Research & Development (R&D)-Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC), the CDMRP provides execution management support for a number of medical research and development programs as directed by Congress. The CDMRP is responsible for planning, coordinating, integrating, programming, and budgeting these programs.

 

Period of Performance: One (1) year base period with up to five (5) option years to follow.

 

Place of Performance: This position is primarily remote/telework. Occasional on-site presence at Fort Detrick, MD, may be required for kick-off meetings, program reviews, or ad hoc collaboration. In addition, the position requires limited travel to national conferences or meetings (e.g., Military Health System Research Symposium).

 

Schedule: The CDMRP operates on a Monday through Friday work schedule, except U.S. Federal Holidays. Overtime is not permitted. Core hours of operation are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) with flexibility to adjust around that for daily schedules.

 

Requirements:

 

  1. PhD in Orthopedics, Rehabilitation Sciences, Physical Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  2. Minimum 8 years of experience in musculoskeletal disease, injury research, or rehabilitative medicine.
  3. Familiarity with regenerative medicine, prosthetics, or physical rehabilitation program oversight.

 

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  1. Lead the Musculoskeletal Diseases/Injuries/Restorative/Rehabilitative Medicine Portfolio.
  2. Provide oversight and subject matter expertise in rehabilitation, injury recovery, and regenerative medicine projects.
  3. Ensure funded projects meet compliance, reporting, and scientific integrity requirements.
  4. Advise the Government on research strategies for musculoskeletal and rehabilitative medicine.
