Health Science Administrators III (Autoimmune/Genetic Disorders/Infectious Diseases)

Statement of Work (SOW)

 

Background: As directed by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) manages and executes the Defense Health Program Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation appropriation. Within the DHA Research & Development (R&D)-Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC), the CDMRP provides execution management support for a number of medical research and development programs as directed by Congress. The CDMRP is responsible for planning, coordinating, integrating, programming, and budgeting these programs.

 

Period of Performance: One (1) year base period with up to five (5) option years to follow.

 

Place of Performance: This position is primarily remote/telework. Occasional on-site presence at Fort Detrick, MD, may be required for kick-off meetings, program reviews, or ad hoc collaboration. In addition, the position requires limited travel to national conferences or meetings (e.g., Military Health System Research Symposium).

 

Schedule: The CDMRP operates on a Monday through Friday work schedule, except U.S. Federal Holidays. Overtime is not permitted. Core hours of operation are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) with flexibility to adjust around that for daily schedules.

 

Requirements:

 

  1. Master’s in Immunology, Genetics, Microbiology, or Infectious Diseases. PhD in Immunology, Genetics, Virology, Microbiology, or related biomedical field (Preferred).
  2. Minimum 8 years of experience in autoimmune disease, genetic disorders, or infectious disease research.
  3. Experience with laboratory-based and/or clinical research programs funded by DoD, NIH, or comparable agencies.
  4. Experience evaluating foreign influence and overlap; portfolio oversight of multi-institutional research awards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  1. Lead the Autoimmune/Genetic Disorders/Infectious Diseases Portfolio.
  2. Provide subject matter expertise in evaluating and monitoring federally funded awards.
  3. Assess scientific overlap, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Advise the Government on emerging risks and research priorities in immunology and infectious disease.
