Presbyterian Healthcare Services, a locally owned, not-for-profit healthcare system in New Mexico, is seeking a BE/BC Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist to join our growing team of exceptional clinicians and staff in Albuquerque, NM.

Presbyterian Hospital is the only congenital cardiac surgery program in New Mexico and serves approximately 3.5 million people in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona. An active congenital heart surgery program performs approximately 200 operations annually. The hospital houses state of the art operating rooms, neonatal intensive care unit, and a pediatric intensive care unit. Busy clinical programs provide comprehensive non-invasive and invasive evaluation and care of children and adults with heart disease, including over10,000 outpatient visits and 100 catheterizations.

What We’re Seeking:

  1. Must be BC/BE in Pediatric Interventional Cardiology
  2. Experience and expertise with all types of diagnostic and catheter-based cardiovascular interventions
  3. Provide the highest quality pediatric interventional cardiology services to patients and their families
  4. Patient-focused and willing to collaborate and work in a team environment
  5. Ability to obtain a medical license to practice in the state of New Mexico

 

Position Overview

Inpatient

  1. Perform and interpret pediatric and adult congenital cardiac catheterizations and interventions
  2. Consult on ED, NICU and PICU patients at Presbyterian hospitals
  3. Assist pediatric cardiology, electrophysiology, adult congenital, and pediatric heart surgery colleagues with the management of service and inpatient consults
  4. Assist in post-operative cardiology patient management
  5. Read pediatric and adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) echos, ECGs and holters

 

Outpatient

  1. Prepare for upcoming clinics by determining prior testing required for each patient
  2. Provide patient management for all patients scheduled for clinic
  3. Provide interpretation/billing for ECGs, holters, echos, event monitors for patient panel
  4. Communicate plan with referring providers
  5. Provide the same services for assigned outreach clinics
  6. Return parent calls and refill authorizations for patient panel
  7. Create referral letters and denial of authorization petitions for patient panel
  8. Prepare patient presentations for surgical conference and M&M conferences
  9. Supervise treadmills and stress tests for patient panel
  10. Participate in maintenance of ICAEL certification, staff/nursing education, and quality improvement projects

 

Call Coverage

  1. Be available via phone at all times while on call
  2. Respond to patient/parent and provider calls. Appropriately notify primary cardiologist for patient management decisions made overnight/weekend
  3. Provide prompt performance of urgent/STAT echos
  4. Provide prompt interpretations of any outside echocardiograms or ECGs
  5. Manage urgent notifications of holter/event monitor/lab results
  6. Round on inpatients on service over the weekends/holidays

 

Competencies

  1. Perform and interpret pediatric and adult congenital heart catheterizations
  2. Perform transcatheter valve replacement, ASD/VSD device closures, and other interventions
  3. Interpret TTE, ECGs, Holter, and treadmill tests
  4. Practice integrated in a thriving multispecialty clinic setting
  5. System-Wide EPIC EMR
