Family Medicine Rural Residency Associate Program Director needed in SC!

Job Summary

McLeod Health is actively seeking a dynamic and innovative leader. We are looking for a board-certified physician recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association. This individual will serve in our established Family Medicine Rural Residency Program as the Associate Program Director. We are seeking a strong leader that will collaborate with our Program Director and demonstrate responsibility, authority, and accountability for the designated residency program site located in Cheraw, SC. It is crucial to ensure alignment with the standards set forth by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and adhere to McLeod Health's policies and procedures. This leadership position requires a 70% commitment to Clinical Services and a 30% dedication to Administrative Services.

 

Position Requirements

• Must include specialty expertise and preferred three years of documented educational experience and/or administrative experience.

• Must hold current Family Medicine Board Certification by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine.

• Must have ongoing clinical activity.

• Must have experience working as part of an interdisciplinary, interprofessional team to create an educational environment that promotes high-quality care, patient safety, and resident well-being.

• Eligible for full licensure to practice medicine in the state of South Carolina.

• Eligible for unrestricted Active Medical Staff privileges.

• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

• Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for continued accreditation as an ACGME-accredited program in Family Medicine.

• Demonstrate values and behaviors consistent with McLeod Health’s values and behavior standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the Program Director in the overall administration and continuous improvement of the residency program.
  2. Oversee curriculum development and implementation, with a focus on rural health, community medicine, and underserved populations.
  3. Mentor and advise residents, fostering professional growth, wellness, and academic success.
  4. Participate in resident recruitment and selection, including interviewing candidates and contributing to ranking decisions.
  5. Ensure ACGME compliance by assisting with accreditation documentation, evaluations, and program assessments.
  6. Facilitate faculty development, including teaching skills, scholarly activity, and mentorship for new faculty.
  7. Chairs and/or Co-Chairs program committees such as the Program Evaluation Committee and/or the Clinical Competency Committee
  8. Engage with community partners and rural clinical sites to enhance training opportunities and address local healthcare needs.
