Job Description

Job Title: Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) 
Location: Neurological Recovery Center. Fort Worth, TX
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Reports To: On-Site Physician

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our rehabilitation team. This advanced practice provider will work in collaboration with our on site Physician and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care to patients with neurological impairments, including but not limited to spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, multiple sclerosis, and other neurodegenerative disorders. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience in a PM&R or neurorehabilitation setting and a strong understanding of the complex needs of neurologically compromised individuals. 

Key Responsibilities:
● Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations of neurologically impaired patients.
● Develop and manage individualized care plans in coordination with supervising physician and multidisciplinary team. 
● Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.
● Manage common medical issues and complications associated with neurological impairment (e.g., spasticity, bowel/bladder dysfunction, pressure injuries, autonomic dysreflexia, DVT prevention).
● Perform and interpret basic diagnostic tests; order and evaluate imaging and lab studies.
● Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
● Document all patient encounters and care plans accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
● Assist in performance improvement and clinical quality initiatives within the rehabilitation facility.

Qualifications: 
Education and Certification:
● Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
● Current licensure in the state of Texas.
● Certification by the NCCPA (for PAs) or national certification for NPs (AANP or ANCC).
● BLS and ACLS certification (required or within 3 months of hire).

Experience:
● Minimum 2 years of experience as a PA or NP, preferably in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, or related specialties.
● Prior experience managing patients with neurological impairments is strongly preferred.
● Prior experience with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:
● Strong clinical acumen in managing neurologically complex patients. 
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Proactive and collaborative approach to patient care.
● Familiarity with EMR systems and rehabilitation documentation standards.
● Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Work Environment:
● Ambulatory rehabilitation clinic.
● Monday - Friday; 9am - 4pm
