Orthopedic Surgeon- Mason City, Iowa- $660k salary guarantee

Job Description

Mason City Clinic’s Orthopedic department has an excellent opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon.

The Orthopedic department consists of 7 physicians, 7 PA’s, 1 podiatrist and a hand specialized occupational therapist. The PA’s take primary call so they are the first level that gets the call.

Mason City Clinic has specialized orthopedic surgeons, but all provide general orthopedic care. The Orthopaedic surgeons perform most surgeries at either the local hospital (MercyOne - North Iowa) or the Ambulatory Surgery Center.There are also some basic surgical procedures such as carpal tunnel repairs done at the outreach hospitals.

Call requirement of 36 days per year, per physician. There is not additional compensation for call.

Guaranteed base salary of $661,826 per year for the first 2 years. CME allowance, ASC investment opportunity, relocation allowance, generous 401k employer contribution, health, dental, vision, HSA, long term care, individual disability, and group disability offered.

Malpractice premium is paid by employer.

Description of job duties - orthopedic surgeon

*Evaluates patients.In doing so, reviews and interprets patient’s health history, conducts physical exam, and reviews laboratory, x-ray, and other test reports to determine diagnosis.

*Based on results of patient’s evaluation, develops and implements treatment plan and provides education to patients.

*Performs surgical procedures.

*Evaluates hospitalized patient during preop and postop period, monitors progress, and releases patient from hospital.

*Recognizes abnormal patient responses to treatment, surgery and/or medication and implements corrective actions as appropriate.

*Documents all aspects of care provided.Completes paperwork necessary to assure payment for services rendered.

*Participates in the call coverage with minimum of 36 days of call per year.

*Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related material, and by attending seminars, conferences and so forth.

Job requires bending, twisting, lifting, sitting and standing on a regular basis.

Approximately 90% of time is spent in direct patient care activities.

Approximately 10% of time is spent in paperwork, equipment, supplies, committee meetings, etc.
