Primary Responsibilities:
Provide expert emergency medical care to pediatric patients in an ACS-verified Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, seeing over 45,000 children annually.
Deliver care in a high-volume, urban emergency department that serves a diverse population from the inner city, the metropolitan area, and a 250-mile referral radius in Missouri and Illinois.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including pediatric trauma surgeons, pediatric intensivists, pediatric surgical subspecialists, pediatric radiologists, pediatric respiratory therapists, and pediatric pharmacists.
Participate in practice and quality improvement projects with a commitment to excellence in patient care.
Serve as a faculty member with Saint Louis University School of Medicine, contributing to the education of future healthcare providers, including fellows, residents, medical students and allied health students.
Ensure compliance with department, hospital, and institutional policies and procedural standards.
Qualifications:
Board eligibility or board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Meet requirements to obtain Missouri and Illinois licensure.
Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Experience in treating a wide range of pediatric medical emergencies and traumatic injuries.
Commitment to compassionate, family-centered care in a child-friendly environment.
Work in a constant state of alertness while maintaining a safe clinical environment.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, lifting (0-25 lbs.), and use of speech, vision, hearing, and smell.
Occasional lifting of patients and heavier objects (25-50 lbs.), bending, kneeling, and driving.
Rare crawling and running.
Work Environment:
Based in a state-of-the-art 35-bed emergency department with 4 resuscitation/trauma rooms.
Pediatric-trained nursing staff certified in PALS to provide the highest level of pediatric patient care.
Also, supported by a dedicated Child Life team and pastoral care representatives to ease the hospital experience for children and families.
