Essential Duties:
- Plan, coordinate and manage the mental health program and services of the facility.
- Accept referrals for inmate evaluations; make necessary judgments and recommendations. Coordinate mental health referrals to other resources when deemed appropriate.
- Develop and conduct preventative mental health program inclusive of inmate training, counseling, recreation activities, discipline, orientation and other support services.
- Provide staff training, both group and individual, in-staff counseling techniques.
- Prepare and conduct special training programs for staff as scheduled.
- Serves in rotation with other medical staff to provide after-hours and weekend inmate care, if required, to include on-call rotation.
- Maintain and monitor confidentiality of inmates and their files; observe applicable HIPAA rules.
- Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
- Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree and valid license to practice medicine in the state of Florida, and current continuing education required by MTC Medical and professional regulatory board.
- Board certified in Psychiatry
- Graduate of accredited medical school with specialty training in psychiatry.
- Current DEA and CPR certifications. One (1) year clinical experience preferred. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
