About the role:

 
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA-C or ARNP) with a passion for surgery and excellent patient care. The right candidate can expect to become in integral part of the surgical team, maximizing surgical skills and capacity while earning clinical autonomy as the details of clinical decision-making are mastered. This candidate will join our current team of 5 surgeons and 3 APPs, and play a pivotal role in our surgical service line. This position involves assisting in surgery, including routine incision closures for cosmetic and reconstructive procedures at Providence Sacred Heart, Deaconess, and PSNW ASC. Employee will work with the team to develop and grow the service line for “minor procedures” in the clinic. Employee will work directly under the supervision of our 5 surgeons and senior APPs to ensure every patient receives the highest standard of perioperative care.

 
As an integral team member, responsibilities include coordinating seamless patient care from inpatient rounding and post-operative planning to ordering and interpreting diagnostics. Other duties include assisting the surgeon with key portions of cases such as breast implant and pocket preparation, microsurgical recipient vessel preparation, and donor-site closure. Other responsibilities include contributing flexible coverage across hospital and ASC settings, supporting and mentoring fellow APPs, and continually expanding surgical expertise in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.

 
Responsibilities:

 
• Surgical Assistance
o Assist in surgical procedures (cosmetic and reconstructive cases including microsurgical flap reconstruction)
o Independently perform portions of cases under surgeon supervision (pocket prep, vessel prep, donor-site closure)
• Perioperative & Inpatient Care
o Round on inpatients, write progress notes, and manage post-op orders
o Order and interpret labs, imaging, and consults
o Perform minor office procedures (suturing, lesion excision, cosmetic injections)
o Outpatient clinic including new patient visits, follow up visits, postop checks, etc
• Team Collaboration & Documentation
o Coordinate with nursing, anesthesia, and ancillary teams
o Ensure timely, accurate billing and chart documentation
o Participate in on-call rotation as needed

 
Candidate requirements:
• Licensure & Certification
o PA-C, NCCPA certified or Board-certified NP (AGACNP, FNP, or equivalent)
o DEA license (or ability to obtain)
o Credentialing eligibility for hospital surgical privileges
o Licensed (or eligible) in Washington and Idaho
o Current BLS and ACLS

 
• Experience
o OR experience required
o Minimum 2 years of surgical assistance preferred, but not required
o Microsurgical reconstruction or related microvascular procedures preferred, but not required
• Skills & Attributes

o Excellent interpersonal communication and patient-education skills
o Comfort working in a fast-paced OR and variable call schedule
o Commitment to expanding personal surgical expertise and technical skills
