Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Emergency Medicine Physician to join our growing, independent health system. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a Level III Trauma Center within a collaborative, community-focused environment.

Position Overview

  • Provide emergency medical care in a busy Level III trauma center

  • Manage a full range of acute presentations from life-threatening emergencies to minor injuries

  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff, specialists, and hospital leadership to ensure high-quality care and efficient patient flow

  • Variable shifts; flexible scheduling


Core Responsibilities

  • Perform patient evaluations, collect medical histories, and conduct thorough physical examinations

  • Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic testing

  • Stabilize patients requiring resuscitation and arrange for admission, transfer, or safe discharge

  • Perform emergency procedures and treatments, including suturing, fracture management, and airway control

  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, and care team members

  • Provide guidance and clinical oversight to emergency department staff


Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor (MD or DO), Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine

  • Unrestricted medical license in Oregon (or ability to obtain)

  • Active Oregon DEA license (or ability to obtain)

  • Trauma trained; current ACLS, BLS, and ATLS required

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings, including a drug test aligned with federal drug testing regulations
