Critical Care - Intensivist Job at Saint Francis Health System in Tulsa, OK

Saint Francis Health System in Tulsa, Oklahoma is actively seeking experienced and motivated Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to join our growing Pulmonary Critical Care team. This position offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license in a high-acuity ICU setting, working alongside a collaborative team of physicians and APPs in our closed medical intensive care units.

Whether on day or night shift, APPs play a key role in patient care, procedures, and rapid response in our 16-bed and 18-bed ICUs on 4 East and 5 East. The structure and responsibilities are designed to provide autonomy, support, and professional growth.

Team Structure & Schedule:

• Day Shifts: 4 Pulmonary Critical Care physicians and 3 APPs
• Night Shifts: 1 physician and 2 APPs
• APPs are assigned to one unit per shift, with clear responsibilities and strong physician collaboration.
• The Pulmonary Critical Care consult service is where APPs will perform procedures.
• 7 on/7 off, 7p-7a or 7a-7p

Day Shift Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with attending physicians on ICU care and consults.
• Assist with new admissions and patient stabilization.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and execute care plans.
• Perform bedside procedures (e.g., intubation, central/arterial lines, thoracentesis, etc.).
• Respond to emergent situations and assist in clinical workups.
• Practice to the fullest extent of your license in a highly supportive environment.

Night Shift Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary APP overseeing ICU operations overnight.
• Respond to all code blues and ICU emergencies.
• Manage consults and ICU admissions/holds.
• Assist with patient discharges within the unit.
• No formal rounding required during night shifts.

Unit Details:

• 4 East and 5 East: Closed Medical ICUs with 16 and 18 beds.
• Other ICUs (e.g., cardiac and neuro trauma) are managed by their respective specialty teams

Qualifications:

• Licensed APRN AGACNP or Physician Assistant in the state of Oklahoma.
• Prior critical care or ICU experience required.
• Skilled in or willing to train in bedside procedures and acute resuscitation.
• Team-oriented with strong communication and clinical decision-making skills.
