Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing medical care as an independent licensed practitioner to outpatient medical practices. The NP will also provide inpatient care in a hospital setting as an independent licensed practitioner. The NP may prescribe or recommend drugs for patients, as well as refer them to physicians for consultation. The NP may order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess a patient's clinical problems and healthcare needs. For the NP, the scope of practice must be in accordance with the Board of Nursing in the state in which they are practicing. Based on training and experience, the NP may work in medical practices from primary care to medical/surgery specialties and subspecialties.
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Must be able to be credentialed by various third-party payers and also by the applicable medical staff.
