About the Opportunity
Integrative Emergency Services (IES) is proud to serve as the emergency medicine partner at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, MO — and we’re expanding our presence by launching a new, physician-led Hospital Medicine service line at the facility. This is a unique opportunity to shape a highly collaborative inpatient care model alongside a trusted partner hospital.
Ozarks Healthcare is an independent, rural regional referral center delivering full-spectrum care with a strong reputation for quality. Our integrated EM/HM model encourages teamwork and communication to drive superior patient outcomes.
Hospitalist Care Model
- Team Configuration: 2 physician hospitalists per day + 2 advanced practice providers (APP) per day + 1 physician per night
- Average Daily Census: Up to 40 patients
- Physician Shifts: 6a-6p; 7a-7p; 6p-6a
- APP Shifts: 7a-7p
- Schedule: 7-on/7-off block scheduling for both physicians and APPs. Other flexible schedule options may also be available. We support one another by covering shifts when needed.
- ICU Coverage: Open ICU with the support of a hospital-provided pulmonologist
- Procedures Required:
- Intubations
- Central lines
- Arterial lines
- Paracentesis
- Thoracentesis
Anesthesiologists and surgeons are available for consults and can help with difficult cases. Pulmonologist can assist with any critical pulmonary patients on vents or those who have chronic pulmonary issues. Anesthesiologists available 24 hours if needed. RT staff is proficient with intubating patients and anesthesia available as backup as well.
- EMR: Meditech Expanse
- Code Coverage: Emergency Department is responsible for codes. Hospitalists are asked to arrive as soon as possible to take over care.
- Specialty Support: Pulmonology, Pathology, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Psychiatry, Interventional Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, Urology, General Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Pain Management, OBGYN, Ortho, Wound Care, Diagnostic Radiology, and Occupational Medicine.
- Collaboration: Strong integration with IES Emergency Medicine team on-site
Qualifications
- BC/BE in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Comfortable managing ICU patients, including procedures such as central lines and ventilator management
- Active Missouri medical licensure, DEA & CSR
- ACLS and BLS certification (PALS preferred)
- West Plains, MO is in an underserved area and accepts J1 and H1B applicants (H1B cap-exempt). Located in the Delta Regional Authority, it has no limit on J1 waivers and there is no waiver application deadline.
