  1. Position: Physician Geriatric Extended Care (GEC) Service
  2. Salary: $260,000-$300,000
  3. Who May Apply: U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.

Are you a Geriatric Physician who enjoys coastal life? Come work at the Hampton Veteran Affairs (VA) Medical Center while caring for our nation's veterans. Our physicians must be board-certified in Geriatric Medicine and /or Palliative Medicine. Board certification Internal Medicine and Nursing Home experience preferred (or will be - for residents) to provide clinical support in an inpatient/outpatient setting. Residents should be within one year of graduation. This position has an ideal workday, which is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm!!

 

Job Description

  1. As a Staff Physician for the Community Living Center (CLC), this position is responsible for all aspects of geriatrics, palliative, and nursing home care within the defined section, including Medical Directorship of clinical staff, in support of Geriatrics and Extended Care Service.
  2. Perform appropriate evaluations of patients. Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
  3. This position will require at home call coverage (5pm-7am) roughly 1 out of every 10 weeks, as it is consistent with the rest of the providers in GEC.

BENEFITS:

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Work Schedule: 8:00AM - 4:30PM - Monday – Friday; This position requires no call coverage

This position is eligible for our Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) which allows for up to $200K in loan repayment over a 5-year period.
