Position Statement:
Responsible for providing care to all patients, including history and physical examinations, patient education, and diagnosing. Along with assisting in the OR with both minimally invasive and open procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Join a surgical specialty office with two full time surgeons; includes exposure to both general surgery and colorectal surgery
- Reports to the Medical Director for clinical performance, reports to the Practice Manager for administrative functions.
- Responsibilities will include evaluation and triage of surgical patients, responding to patient calls in coordination with colleagues, collaborating in a team setting to complete necessary work
- The role also includes time in the operating room
- OR experience includes assisting with both minimally invasive and open procedures
- Includes inpatient rounding and assisting with surgical consultations
- Prescribing medications in accordance with the scope of practice submitted to and approved by the Vermont Board of Medical Practice
- Participates in the development, implementation, and review of procedures and policies and annual program review as requested.
- Required to keep current with CMEs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Completion of an accredited program for Nurse Practitioners or Physicians’ Assistant.
- Appropriate licensing/registration. 3-5 years of experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, other health care providers, and parents.
- Adheres to professional ethical standards.
- Ability to follow NCH’s standards of behavior.
