The University of Missouri (MU) Department of Family & Community Medicine in Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our inpatient medicine team. This provider will work alongside Attending Family Medicine Physicians, Family Medicine Residents, and a multidisciplinary care team to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care at our 390-bed flagship University Hospital location. Practice Highlights:
Join an established team of Advanced Practice Clinicians, Attending Physicians, Residents, and Pharmacists to care for adult non-pregnant inpatients.
Collaborate with an experienced team of inpatient-focused Family Medicine Attending Physicians under indirect supervision.
Collaborating attendings are on-site seeing inpatients with the resident physician teams.
Average daily census of 6-10 patients per provider.
No required night or weekend responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Performs admissions and discharges for patients including appropriate assessment, orders, and documentation.
Performs and documents daily assessment, physical examination, and plan of care for admitted patients.
Counsels patients and families regarding care plan and post-discharge plan.
Performs additional physical assessments of patient's conditions and needs as clinically indicated.
Recognizes, critically assesses, and treats any changes in patients' condition
Participates in daily multi-disciplinary rounds with Pharmacist, Social Worker, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Dietician
Orders appropriate medications, therapies, labs, diagnostic tests under the supervision of the attending physician.
Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health using established protocols.
Additional Responsibilities as assigned or agreed on, including but not limited to:
Participates in quality improvement projects
Represents the inpatient service leadership on committees or in ad-hoc meetings.
Onboarding training for new hires may include working under direct attending physician supervision for a period of time depending on level of experience
Opportunities for voluntary extra 'moonlight' weekend shifts for additional compensation based on inpatient census

2-4 years experience with inpatient medicine.
Master of Science in Nursing degree.
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
Must be granted a Document of Recognition from the Missouri Board of Nursing.
