Job Description:
Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility, a federal Indian Health Service (IHS) facility located in Belcourt, North Dakota, is seeking qualified OB/GYN physicians for long-term temporary contract positions. The facility serves a Native American population and offers a unique opportunity to deliver full-spectrum women’s healthcare in a rural setting.
Schedule:
2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (excluding federal holidays)
24-hour call during scheduled weeks, beginning at 7:00 AM and ending at 7:00 AM the following day, including holidays
Compensation Package Includes:
Competitive hourly pay
$500 travel allowance per rotation
Housing and credentialing support available
Key Responsibilities:
Provide outpatient and inpatient obstetrical and gynecological care
Perform diagnostic exams, develop treatment plans, and conduct surgical procedures
Deliver newborns via vaginal and cesarean section
Manage obstetric and gynecologic admissions and inpatient care
Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests
Supervise CRNAs as necessary
Provide patient education and participate in staff consultations
Maintain accurate and timely medical records using the facility’s electronic health record system
Comply with IHS, CMS, and infection control standards
Respect patient dignity and demonstrate cultural competence in working with Native American populations
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree
Active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
ACLS certification is recommended but not required
Must have performed deliveries within the past 12 months
Must meet credentialing and privileging requirements of the facility
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in IHS or rural healthcare settings
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience in culturally responsive care, especially with Native American communities
