The Medicine Service at James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, Florida, is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and reliable Internal Medicine Physician to join our Nocturnist Team. This is a hospital-based, full-time position providing high-quality inpatient care to America’s Veterans during night shifts.

Position Overview:
As a Nocturnist, you will provide inpatient medical care during overnight shifts and serve as the primary attending for hospitalized Veterans. This includes admissions, cross-coverage, responding to rapid response and code blue events, and coordination with other services.
Key Duties:
Admit and manage acutely ill adult inpatients with a broad range of internal medicine conditions.
Respond to inpatient emergencies, including Rapid Response and Code Blue activations.
Provide supervision and guidance to medical trainees during overnight hours.
Collaborate with specialists and interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive care.
Document timely and accurate medical records using VA’s electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications:
Board Certified / Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
Experience in inpatient or hospitalist medicine, particularly overnight care
Strong skills in acute care, communication, and teamwork
Interest in teaching residents and medical students is welcomed but not required
