Infectious Disease Physician - Inpatient Specialist with Ambulatory Support - Fort Lauderdale

Job Description

Broward Health, one of the nation’s largest public safety-net healthcare systems is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Infectious Disease Physician to join our team in a hybrid clinical role that integrates both hospital-based care and outpatient services. This full-time position offers the opportunity to play a critical role in both acute care management and primary care in one of our ambulatory clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultative services for hospitalized patients across multiple units.
  • Evaluate complex infectious disease cases, initiate appropriate treatment plans and support antimicrobial stewardship efforts, and contribute to hospital-wide infection control practices.
  • Collaborate closely with hospitalist, intensivists, surgeons and other specialists to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care.
  • Provide primary care and infectious disease follow-up in one of our ambulatory clinics.
  • Manage chronic infectious conditions, support preventative care, and promote long-term wellness – particularly for patients with limited access to care.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in infectious disease protocols and incorporate evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic healthcare record (EHR) systems.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Infectious Disease fellowship
  • Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Infectious Disease
  • Active and unrestricted medical license to practice in Florida or eligibility to obtain licensure
  • Experience working with HIV-positive patients a plus but not required
