Pain PA Role:

  1. Conducts Patient Assessments: Performs and records history and physical examinations, and documents data from clinic visits.
  2. Manages Chronic Pain: Evaluates, consults, diagnoses, and manages chronic pain concerns.
  3. Documentation: Enters progress notes in the medical record and completes workload documentation promptly.
  4. Medical Care: Manages chronic, subacute, and acute chronic pain conditions, and refers patients for appropriate medical, surgical, and interventional treatments.
  5. Orders Tests and Medications: Orders diagnostic tests, medications, and laboratory tests as needed.
  6. Follow-Up: Provides timely follow-up on test results and patient inquiries, including managing view alerts and secure messages.
  7. Treatment Plans: Develops treatment plans according to accepted protocols for chronic pain management.
  8. Prescribes Medications: Prescribes medications according to the approved formulary and legal regulations, and provides basic interventional pain techniques.
  9. Patient Education: Educates patients about chronic pain conditions and recommended treatments.
  10. Consultations: Consults with other specialties as needed, following service agreements.
