Gastroenterologist at Aleda E. Lutz Medical Center, Saginaw, MI

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultations for adult patients with gastrointestinal diseases and disorders, including those of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, pancreas, gallbladder, and liver.
  • Procedures: Perform essential procedures such as flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, PEG placement, and other core gastroenterology procedures.
  • Patient Management: Develop and manage treatment plans, and provide patient education on diagnosis and medication.
  • Leadership: Lead projects relevant to your specialty and collaborate with other services to ensure high-quality standards of care.
  • Teaching: Supervise, teach, and mentor medical students, residents, and trainees within the medical center.
  • Consultation: Provide expert consultations and routine follow-ups for referred patients, ensuring comprehensive care.

Qualifications

  • Education & Certification: Board certified in Gastroenterology is preferred, completed an ACGME residency/ fellowship. Must hold active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Skills: Proficient in routine internal medicine procedures and core gastroenterology procedures.
  • Experience: Adept at working in a collaborative environment, managing complex cases, and inspiring future medical professionals.

Recruitment Incentives:

  • Sign-on Bonus: May be authorized.
  • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Potential student loan repayment of up to 200k

Compensation:

  • 315k-400k (all outpatient, no nights, weekends or holidays) Competitive salary with performance bonuses and regular salary increases.
  • Malpractice coverage with tail protection.
  • No restrictions on moonlighting 

Paid Time Off:

  • 50-55 days of annual paid time off, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and up to 5 days for CME.

Retirement and Insurance:

  • Traditional federal pension plan (after 5 years vesting).
  • 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
  • Comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care insurance programs.

Licensure and CME:

  • Unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
  • Up to $1,000 per year for CME reimbursement for full-time board-certified physicians.

Work Schedule:

  • Choice between 7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
