ECU Health Physicians and East Carolina University’s Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, are seeking applicants to fill the position of Acute Care Surgeon. Applicants should be board certified in general surgery and have completed a surgical critical care or acute care surgery fellowship and be either board certified or eligible in surgical critical care. Candidates with less than 5 years of experience with a special interest in teaching and research are desired, but qualified mid-career academic surgeons would be considered. Tenure track is available to qualified applicants.
The successful candidate will join eleven academic acute care surgeons in the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery to staff the Trauma Service, Surgical and Trauma Intensive Care Unit, and Emergency General Surgery at ECU Health Medical Center, an ACS verified level 1 University Trauma Center. The Trauma Center experiences an annual patient volume of approximately 4,000 injured patients, including a 15% rate of penetrating injury.
