Children’s Hospital at Erlanger is home to the southeastern region’s only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as well as the only Neonatal Transport Team. Children's Hospital at Erlanger is one of five Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Centers in the state of Tennessee -- with comprehensive services to treat a wide array of medical and surgical problems in critical newborns.
Education, Training, & Experience
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatology
- Ability to obtain an active medical license in the state of Tennessee
Neonatology Program Overview
- 65-bed Level IV NICU at our downtown Children’s campus offering in-depth subspecialty medical and surgical care for infants as young as 22-23 weeks at birth.
- 8-bed Level II NICU at our nearby Erlanger East campus offering intensive care to 32 week infants and above.
- High frequency jet and oscillatory ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia, and non-surgical cardiac care offered. Neonatal ECMO is available in the Pediatric ICU performed by the pediatric critical care team.
- Dedicated Neonatal transport team provides both ground and air support, consisting of a transport nurse, respiratory therapist, and a neonatal nurse practitioner with two new, state-of-the-art transport vehicles.
- Over 5,500 deliveries per year and 1,000 NICU admissions annually.
