As a Cardiologist at CAMC, you will play a pivotal role in our Heart and Vascular Center by being a medical professional specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases within an outpatient clinic setting, providing comprehensive care for patients with conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arrhythmias, heart valve issues, and coronary artery disease, including patient consultations, physical examinations, diagnostic testing interpretation, treatment plan development, medication management, and patient education to promote heart health.

Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) was established in 1972 and is a nonprofit, 1,138-bed regional tertiary referral center made up of seven hospitals: General Hospital, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Memorial Hospital, Plateau Medical Center, Teays Valley Hospital, Women's and Children’s Hospital, and Charleston Surgical Hospital. Key responsibilities:
Conduct thorough patient history taking, physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (ECGs), echocardiograms, stress tests, and blood work to identify cardiovascular conditions.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, including medication management, lifestyle modifications, and referrals to other specialists when necessary.
Prescribe and monitor cardiovascular medications like blood pressure medications, cholesterol-lowering drugs, and antiarrhythmics.
Provide cardiovascular risk assessments, educate patients on healthy lifestyle habits to prevent heart disease, and conduct regular follow-up appointments for ongoing monitoring.
Explain complex medical information about heart conditions and treatment options in a clear and understandable manner to patients.
Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, specialists, and nurses, to ensure coordinated patient care.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including clinical findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.
