About the opportunity

Aligned Providers Wyoming (APW) seeks experienced Hospital Medicine Advanced Practice Providers (APPs/APRNs) for our Cheyenne, Wyoming location. This is a full-time position at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, offering the chance to deliver high quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative, supportive environment.

As an integral member of our team, you will manage acute medical conditions and emergencies while working alongside a dedicated group of clinicians. APW empowers APPs and APRNs to practice at the fullest extent of their licensure, allowing you to perform procedures, make critical clinical decisions, and actively contribute to patient care plans, you will work in a highly collaborative environment that supports autonomy and professional growth

About Cheyenne Regional Medical Center

Founded in 1867 as a frontier “tent” hospital, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has deep roots in the Cheyenne, Wyoming community. Since its founding, the hospital has been dedicated to serving others— starting with the trans-continental railroad laborers it first served. Today, it is a 222-bed acute care hospital that maintains its pioneering spirit, continually determined to provide world-class care with compassion. The hospital, along with its community partners, ensures that Laramie Country residents are able to access the essential health and wellness services they need.

  1. Patient Volume: 4.5 admits per 12 hr. shift/avg. - Night Shift 
    1. Day shift volume is varied. 
  2. Support: Attending physicians always on site.
  3. EMR System: EPIC
  4. Shift Structure:
    1. Day Shift : 7am to 7pm
    2. Night Shift : 7pm-7am
  5. Hours: 
    1. Between 120 -168 (Full-time)

Core Responsibilities

Patient Care

  1. Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart review; assess presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and perform appropriate physical examination.
  • Order and perform appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and screening tests.
  • Seek additional information or consult with other providers/disciplines as needed for patient evaluation.
  1. Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws.
  • Educate patients and families about health promotion, illness prevention, medications, and treatments.
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan including triaging patient calls/e-mails.
  • Collaborate with physicians for managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.

Documentation and Communication

  1. Prepare documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner.
  • Communicate case management information to other professionals and community agencies.

Professional Development and Compliance

  • Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, and clinical guideline development.
  • Engage in continuing education and quality assurance activities to meet professional standards and regulations.
  • Maintain professional affiliations and participate in professional development activities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Medical Knowledge and Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of advanced nursing practice, including anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and therapeutics.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic testing, interpreting results, and clinical decision-making using evidence-based medicine.
  • Understanding of health promotion, risk identification, and patient education principles.
  • Knowledge of alternative treatment modalities and community/professional resources.

Patient Care and Assessment

  • Expertise in patient assessment techniques, including medical histories and compliance evaluation.
  • Skill in analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data to develop effective care plans.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat complex medical problems.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff, and the public.

Professional Skills

  • Proficiency in case management, time management, problem-solving, and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing ethics and regulations.

Minimum Requirements


Education

  1. Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing program

Licensure/Certification

  1. Licensed to practice in the state of WY
  2. Life Support Certifications: BLS, ACLS and PALS
  3. DEA and WY CSP
  4. Enrollment in AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date

Experience

  1. New Grads are eligible to apply
  2. 1+year post grad experience preferred

Work Authorization

  1. USA Citizen or Appropriate work authorization

Work Environment

  1. May work in stressful settings
  2. Minimal Travel may be required

Physical Requirements

Medium Work – Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
