Many UHP physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents, fellows, and medical students.  The UMKC SOM accepts students directly out of high school for a six-year combined baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine program.  The UMKC SOM Graduate Medical Education program supports over 30 residencies and fellowships. 

UH is known as “Kansas City’s Essential Hospital” and is the safety net healthcare system for Jackson County/Kansas City, MO.  UH is an academic medical center, serving as the primary teaching institution for the UMKC Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Pharmacy.  A 547-bed, not-for-profit health system.

University Health and University Health Physicians are currently seeking a full-time psychiatrist to join our medical staff in providing psychiatric services in an outpatient setting.

This position will work with a multi-disciplinary team that includes psychologists, social workers and therapists.  Other duties will include: paid call on the consult liaison service or inpatient mental health unit and teaching of psychiatry residents and medical students. Participation in hospital-based committees and providing lectures to other medical specialties is encouraged. 

The qualified candidate will have graduated from an accredited medical school, and completed a residency in Psychiatry.
