Pediatrics Physician Job with San Luis Valley Health in Alamosa, CO

Required Profile
Must be Board certified/Board eligible in Pediatrics with a desire and ability to work with a team in a rural health system

Practice overview:

• Hospital-employed position - outpatient clinic attached to a 49-bed Level III acute care hospital   
• Type of practice: 90% outpatient, 10% inpatient
• Call schedule: Average of 8-9 days of call to include 1 weekend per month; average number of newborns, inpatients and after hour phone calls per day is 2; newborn rounding; attend high risk deliveries, stabilize and ship premature and sick newborns, admit medical and surgical inpatients, on call to ER for admissions, consults and stabilize and ship situations
• Expected patient load: 20-22 patients daily average in clinic + 1-3 newborns and 0-1 inpatients on call days
• Procedures needed: circumcisions, umbilical lines, intubations, IVs, feeding tubes - strong backup resources available
• EMR – Meditech Expanse
• Radiology services – 128-slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, onsite radiology 4 days per week, 24/7 remote tele-radiology services, limited interventional radiology available
