Job Description

Summary, this position will play a vital role in the Health Center's Behavioral Health program. Under the directive of the Director of Behavioral Health and / or Chief Medical Officer, the psychiatrist is responsible for psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services. The candidate will be responsible for meeting, assessing, diagnosing, and providing psychiatric out-patient services for patients and clients of BACHC.
Essential Functions
1. Provide psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services for patients.
2. Conduct psychiatric examinations and evaluations.
3. Makes diagnoses and prescribes therapy.
4. Conducts individual and group psychotherapy.
5. Consults with psychologists, social workers, and others in community agencies regarding the psychiatric aspects of their work.
6. Confers with patients' relatives regarding illness and treatment. 
7. Appropriately maintains medical records and prepares reports.
8. Assist in establishing psychiatric programs and policies.
9. Must become familiar with Federal and State rules, regulations, and practices in a Community Health Center.
10. Becoming familiar with Federal and State Healthcare program requirements and assisting in carrying out these programs.
11. Assist in developing the healthcare plan and reviewing the program requirements and recommend changes when necessary to carry out the health plan as required.
12. Other duties as required by the funding agencies to carry out contractual agreements and /or as established by BACHC Management and the Board of Directors.
13. Keep accurate, concise, and thorough documentation of all medical encounters and discussions with patients and caregivers in relation to their plan or care.
14. Close all notes in the EMR in a timely manner.
15. Participate in care team huddles, provider meetings, and all-staff meetings.

24. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties
1. HIPAA Compliance Responsible for maintaining abreast of and in compliance with all HIPAA regulations and requirements. Treat all member information confidentially. 
2. Compliance ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
3. QA/QI participates in QA/QI activities and contributes toward the overall performance improvement of the organization.
4. Participate in the Patient Centered Health Home Model at Bartz-Altadonna Community Health Center.
Education
1. Graduate from an accredited medical school.
2. Must have a valid California License and DEA license.
3. Satisfactory completion of a four-year residency training program in Psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
4. CPR Certification
Skills / Experience
1. A keen interest in helping the underserved population (e.g. the homeless population).
2. Interest in designing and evaluating an efficient psychiatric care system in a community health center setting.
3. FQHC Experience preferred
4. Able to be successfully credentialed by BACHC.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
Physical Demands
This is mostly in an office setting. However, this position may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Walking, bending, and reaching may be required as well. 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday; hours range from 7:30am-6:30pm.
Travel
On occasion, travel will be required.
