Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking an NP or PA to join the Cardiology team in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Our dedicated cardiologists specialize in the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases, including conditions like hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, and heart rhythm disorders.

Testing and Treatment services include but are not limited to:

• Echocardiography
• Stress testing
• Coronary calcium scoring
• Coronary CTA
• Cardiac MRI
• Percutaneous coronary intervention

Schedule:

• 8a-430p is typical. 36 patient facing hours with 4 hours of admin time. 
• Office call from 5p-9p. Call is on weekends as well. Rotation among the APPs. 5 right now.
• Holidays are included in the schedule and on call rotation. Usually, 1 APP per holiday, unless the volume calls for 2 APPs to be on call during a holiday.

Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with physician, demonstrates ability to counsel patients and family members about diagnosis, testing, and risk of procedures.
• Performs comprehensive health assessments for the purpose of diagnosing and treating individuals.
• Formulates appropriate differential diagnosis, develop treatment plan to include appropriate diagnostics; identifies non-pharmacological interventions, appropriate pharmacological agents, and education. The plan is based on mutually established priorities to maximize the heath potential of the patient.
• Provides relevant patient and family education; makes appropriate referrals to other professional and community agencies.
• Orders and provides preliminary interpretation of diagnostic studies.
• Prescribes non-pharmacological therapies and pharmacological agents within the defined scope of service and according to guidelines established by the supervising physician.
• Demonstrates the ability to use effective organizational/prioritization problem-solving and decision-making abilities in practice.
• Provides emergency treatments and initiates emergency life saving measures per ACLS guidelines.
• Meets all the requirements of the practice agreement with the supervising physician under the regulations and requirements of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Minimum Requirements:

• NP or PA certification
• Current, unrestricted, Virginia State license or eligible for Virginia licensure.
• DEA Required.
• AHA, BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills are required as well as the desire to be part of a team that functions at the highest level.
