The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation is an 86-bed hospital and outpatient facility, located in the village of Garapan and serves a population of about 50,000 people. The facility offers a broad range of services and specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Head and Neck Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Podiatry, Oncology, Inpatient and Outpatient Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, Psychiatry, and Nephrology.

At CHCC you will be part of a collaborative medical community providing services to the local population as well as tourists and other visitors. Transferring patients off the island for services is difficult and often not possible. Don’t be intimidated by this! Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science (RN’s) 

    • Masters in Nursing Specialty:Midwifery.
    • Complete midwifery education program accredited by the ACME.
    • 1 year CNM experience required.
    • AMCB Certified
    • Must be U.S. or Canadian trained
    • CNMI license required (application process supported by HR staff) 

Licensing and credentialing takes 6-8 weeks (Process: Present CV and, if cleared, a candidate will be notified by email  to submit three (3) recent references.)

Job Description:

Certified Nurse Midwives work within the OB/GYN department, in the inpatient and outpatient setting. They work with collaboration or referral to OB/GYNs or other healthcare providers as needed, to provide complete obstetrical, gynecological, women's health screening, and neonatal transition care. Outside of set clinic hours they work in the inpatient setting in the role of a Certified Nurse Midwife and when needed as a Labor and Delivery nurse.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Cares for patients antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum, including evaluation, diagnosing and treatment.
    • Performs Gynecology care through the lifespan, including but not limited to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of uterine bleeding, infections.
    • Works as a team with other healthcare practitioners to develop protocols and policies in clinic and on Labor and Delivery.
    • Attends and participates in OB/GYN department meetings.
    •   Assesses intrapartum fetal well being and position. Evaluation of labor progress. Delivery of the newborn. Placement of fetal scalp electrodes if needed.   
    • Cuts episiotomies as needed. Suturing of episiotomies/lacerations (1st and 2nd degree).
    • Assesses for spontaneous rupture of membranes (SROM).
    • Performs emergency measures and arranges for immediate contact of Obstetrician when complications arise.
    • Performs Urinary Foley catheter and IV placement. Administering medication as prescribed.
    • Understands the policies and procedures and protocols of L& D.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Benefits
    • $10,000 one-time relocation assistance, subject to deductions for taxes and other withholdings as required by law,  for initial contracts of at least 2 years or more (paid w/in 30 days from start date),
    • Economy fare travel from point of recruitment to Saipan.  Repatriation benefit arranged upon completion of contract.
    • Malpractice coverage is provided under the CNMI Government Liability Act (essentially identical to the Federal Tort Claims Act).
    • Reimbursement of up to $250 for pre-employment health screening costs.
    • Annual Leave: Accrues at eight (8) hours per pay period (bi-weekly), with a full-time Employment Contract
    • Sick Leave: Accrues at four (4) hours per pay period (bi-weekly)
    • Up to 5 days (40 hours) of paid leave for CME.
