Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is a 123-bed acute care community hospital serving the 80,000 residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties and members of the contiguous counties of Center, Perry, Snyder, and Huntingdon. Established in 1905, the hospital provides inpatient, outpatient, wellness and community services while employing over 1,000 full-time and part-time employees and providing a Medical Staff consisting of more than 150 physicians and allied health practitioners representing specialties ranging from family medicine, internal medicine, and cardiology to infectious disease and general/cardiovascular surgery.
Position Summary
- The night team consists of one physician and One APP. APP can help with cross-covering floors as well as admissions.
- On occasions, a second- or third-year Family Medicine resident will assist with cross coverage and admissions.
- Moonlighting opportunities are available, as well occasional teaching opportunities.
- ICU is covered at nighttime with a critical care APP and EICU back up. Nocturnists are not expected to admit patients to ICU or round on ICU patients. however, during higher workload, EICU attending may request the presence of a Nocturnist at the bedside to assist.
- Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
- Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medication. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
- Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
