Evansville is largest city in southern Indiana and the third-largest city in the state. With a metropolitan population of 358,676 as of 2010, Evansville is the county seat of Vanderburgh County and the regional hub for both southwestern Indiana and the Illinois-Indiana-Kentucky tri-state area. The city is situated on a gentle horseshoe bend in the Ohio River and is often referred to as "River City." In 2004, Evansville was named an All-America City by the National Civic League, and in 2008 Kiplinger named it as the best city in which to live, work, and play and as the 11th best in 2009.
